Machu Picchu is an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains in Peru, above the Urubamba River valley. Built in the 15th century and later abandoned, it’s renowned for its sophisticated dry-stone walls that fuse huge blocks without the use of mortar, intriguing buildings that play on astronomical alignments and panoramic views. Its exact former use remains a mystery.
Machu Picchu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, both cultural and natural. On July 7th, 2007 it was declared as one of the 7 wonders of the world at a ceremony held in Lisboa, Portugal, with millions of voters in the world.
Bariloche is small city located in the Patagonia region and offers terrain for all levels of ability, but experts and adventure-seekers will be pleased to know that half of Cerro Catedral’s 3,000 acres is off-piste/backcountry terrain, accessed from the new La Laguna chairlift, 120 km (75 mi) of ski runs, and a lift capacity of 35,000 skiers per hour.
It is also very popular due to the magnificent view of the Nahuel Huapi lake. There are also a number of hotels and hostels at the foot of the mountain, and a summer hikers’ hut called Refugio Lynch on one of the tops of the mountain.
Cerro Catedral is best suited to intermediate and expert skiers and snowboarders, but offers beginner skiers plenty of options. Freestyle skiers and snowboarders will be happy with the terrain park offerings on a Bariloche ski vacation, too.

Ski resort on the southern slope of Mount Krund, 26 km from the city of Ushuaia, in the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego. Its tracks can be used during several months because of the cold weather of the region. Cerro Castor is the southernmost ski resort in the world.
This important ski center was inaugurated in 1999. As of 2012, there are ten lift facilities in the resort, enabling to carry up to 9,500 people per hour: four four-seats chairlifts, three T-bars and three magic carpets. Cerro Castor has twenty-eight snowmass trails (with 600 hectares of usable surface and a vertical drop of 800 m), a snowpark, several restaurants and tearooms, recreation facilities, mountain shelters, a skiing school, a first-aid service, and a lenga beech forest. Many of the trails are harmonized by the International Ski Federation. Besides classic alpine skiing, the center offers other activities such as snowboarding, skiboarding, ski touring, sleds, cross-country skiing and snowshoes.[6]

One of the largest Andean ski resorts in Argentina, located in the western part of Mendoza Province. It is well known for its powder snow, good climate and excellent opportunities for extreme and off-piste skiing. The ski area has a good diversity of slopes ranging from very easy to extreme, including a good range of off-piste areas apt for extreme skiing. The skiable area base starts at an altitude of 2,240 m above mean sea level (7,350 feet) and goes up to 3,430 m (11,253 ft) for a total drop of 1,190 m (3,904 ft). The skiable surface amounts to 2.3 km2 (1 sq mi), with 27 runs and a maximum non-stop skiable distance of 7 km (4 mi) (not including off run alternatives).
The ski center includes a ski and snowboard school for all ages and childcare facilities. Specific workshops are also offered at the school to profit from the huge expanses of off-piste runs offered by the area.

Kitzbühel is a small Alpine town east of Innsbruck, in the western Austrian province of Tyrol. It’s a fashionable winter resort, known for the annual Hahnenkamm downhill race. Upscale shops and cafes line the streets of its medieval center. Museum Kitzbühel chronicles the history of the town and the area’s winter sports, with paintings by local artist Alfons Walde. Its rooftop terrace has sweeping town views.

St. Anton am Arlberg is an Austrian village in the Tyrolean Alps. It’s known as a gateway to the Arlberg ski region and is often called the “cradle of alpine skiing” for its role in inventing the sport. The Museum St. Anton am Arlberg chronicles local ski history in a traditional chalet. Lifts and cable cars provide access to the slopes of Valluga and Rendl. The village is also known for its lively après-ski scene.
Cortina d’Ampezzo is a ski resort in northern Italy. It’s part of the Dolomiti Superski area, which encompasses the Falzarego Pass, with its downhill runs. Sites from the 1956 Winter Games held in Cortina include the Ice Stadium, the Eugenio Monti bobsleigh run and the disused ski jump Trampolino Olimpico Italia. The Tofane area is the site of a Women’s Ski World Cup race and Cortina Snow Park for jumps and tricks. It has 37 lifts and 120 km of slopes.
So, lots of history and memories are associated with Cortina, and nowadays you also have great opportunities to relax in perfect settings after a day on the slopes – pleasant walks, great restaurant choice, the tops in shopping. All adds up to make this resort the real Pearl of the Dolomites.

Sestriere is an alpine village in Italy, a comune of the Metropolitan City of Turin. It is situated in Val Susa, 17 km from the French border. Its name derives from Latin: ad petram sistrariam, that is at sixty Roman miles from Turin.
The local slopes, served by drags and chairs, are in two main sectors: Sises, directly in front of the village, and Motta, above Borgata; Motta is more varied and bigger, with more vertical.
There are red and blue runs back from M Fraiteve – sunny, and not reliably open to the bottom. You may face a long walk from the end of the piste to the lifts or your lodgings.

It’s simply carving heaven, with freeride slopes, wide beginners’ pistes and even the world’s first yoga piste. It also has 350 km of piste.

The peaks of Gornergrat and Rothorn can be reached by train or boat and offer first-time visitors and families with children suitable excursion destinations. In winter there are three ski regions with 360 km of pistes for skiing and snowboarding.

Year-round, cable cars take visitors up to several nearby peaks with panoramic views, including Aiguille du Midi above town, and Pointe Helbronner, across vast glacier fields on the Italian border.
Chamonix is a winter sports resort town. As the highest European mountain west of Russia, Mont Blanc attracts mountain climbers. There is a cable car up to the 3,842 m (12,605 ft) Aiguille du Midi. Constructed in 1955, it was then the highest cable car in the world and remains the highest vertical ascent cable car in the world.

Megève is a ski resort village in the Alps of southeastern France, in the Mont Blanc massif. It offers downhill runs, snow parks and cross-country trails, with links to La Giettaz. The area features rustic-chic chalets, upmarket hotels and designer boutiques. Its pedestrian center has cobbled medieval streets. In summer, trails lead through green forests and meadows, and up to Mont d’Arbois for panoramic views.
On an area of 8 km² there are 116 lifts providing access to 217 slopes totalling 445 km. The slopes are thus divided: (from hardest to easiest) 33 blacks, 84 reds, 63 blues and 378 greens.
The lifts: 67 platter lifts, 35 chairlifts and 13 gondola lifts and 1 cable car. In addition, the “Domaine Évasion Mont-Blanc” includes 18 cross-country skiing trails totalling 95 km (59 mi.).
